Access to London City Airport
Visitor’s oyster card

Getting a visitors oyster card would be the best way for visitors to access the London environs. This smartcard enables you to pay for all public transport means at discounted prices and gives you a 50% discount on Tube journeys. You can purchase an Oyster card at the airport’s Tube station in case you landed without one.

Tube

The airport has a comprehensive tube network that can access the whole of London. Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is the stop that connects the airport to Tube interchange stations such as Bank, Canning Town and Stratford.

The DLR railway service is accessible to the people in wheelchairs too. Stations are well equipped with lifts or ramps for easier access and the platforms are levelled with the trains. However, there are also quite a number of Tube stations without lifts so, planning your journey in advance is advisable if you’re disabled.

Buses

There are a variety of London buses serving the airport. The 443 buses connect the airport to Stratford but have numerous intermediaries including North Woolwich and Plaistow.

There are also 474 buses that head to Manor Park and Canning Town and they can have stops at East Ham and Beckton.

Taxis

Taxis are also available and you can find them parked at the airport awaiting customers. The cost of the cabs vary and in most cases, they are metered and displayed inside the cab. Book cabs with reputable companies so that you can have your chauffeur waiting for you with a signboard of your name. These are the most flexible means of transport.

Parking

Parking services are also available at the airport with the charges being about £45 per 24-hours. However, pre-booking online early enough can lower those rates by up to 50%. The advantage with these airports is that even the furthest parking bay is only a short distance away, about a 7-minute walk from the terminal.
